Explore the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary by boat at get up-close and personal with Gray whales, Humpback whales, Killer whales, and dolphins, not to mention frequent sea otter sightings. There are many tours available, setting out from Monterey’s Fisherman’s Wharf. Randy’s Fishing Trips offers a number of unique water tour
packages. Take a chartered fishing boat out for fresh Monterey Bay Salmon, or swim with them by renting scuba diving equipment. There are also a number of Kayak rental locations near the beaches of Cannery Row, Monterey, and Moss Landing. Wind surfing is also a popular sport on the Monterey Bay and rental equipment is readily available.
The near-by Santa Cruz surf culture has drifted down to the Peninsula and surf shops abound in Monterey, Pacific Grove, and Carmel.
TIP: The best beaches for watching the “Boys (or Girls) of Summer” are Carmel Beach and Lovers Point & Asilomar in Pacific Grove.
